Lily Verlaine and Jasper McCann will return to Seattle’s illustrious Triple Door for their eighth annual installment of Land of the Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker. A spectacle of ecdysiastic pageantry, Land Of The Sweets has delighted holiday revelers since 2006, giving the ballet a bawdy makeover!
This year’s production will delight the newcomer and surprise return visitors to the Land of the Sweets. New cast members formerly of Spectrum Dance Theater and Ballet Bellevue make the dancing even hotter! New costumes designed by Danial Helman add extra glamour, and fans will get a chance to see the famous “Stargazer” Dress he created for Lily Verlaine’s performance at this year’s Burlesque Hall of Fame Main Event.
All-new dance numbers will excite you, and favorites from past years will be back in all their glory: Waxie Moon’s nefarious Rat King, Lily’s steamy Countess of Coffee, and Kitten La Rue’s vibrant Hot Chocolate are as dazzling as ever. Reprising her role as The Snow Queen and The Sugar Plum Fairy is the current Reigning Queen of Burlesque, Miss Indigo Blue, and returning as one of the charming Snowflakes is Miss Viva Las Vegas, Inga Ingeune.
Jasper McCann hosts the “perfect mix of singing, acrobatics, glamour and smutty jokes” (ProstAmerika), that features an all-star cast from Seattle’s Burlesque A-list. After you’ve come in from the opening snowstorm, Verlaine, McCann and company invite you to trim the tree and warm up with exotic delicacies from the far corners of the globe.
